Detailed Plan of the Ouarzazate desert tour

   

First-Day: Ouarzazate airport – Taleouet

We will welcome you at the airport of Ouarzazate from Where our 5-day desert tour will be started. Upon arrival, we will take you to your hotel to relax and leave your luggage. Then, we will take you on a guided tour of the village to visit the filming studios and discover the beautiful architecture made only with clay and rocks. Ouarzazate has more than one name such as the Hollywood of Africa, The open gate of Desert, and Maghreb Studio. Tens of international movies were filmed here including the famous Gladiator, Game Of Thron, and Lawrence of Arabia. You will be lucky to discover such a tremendous ancient village as Ouarzazate. We will have a traditional meal for lunch at one of the local restaurants. Later, not far from the village, we will go to visit the well-known Kasbah of Taleouet. The Kasbah is known as the Galoui Kasbah, an ancient and fortified Kasbah in the region. We will enjoy the time drinking tea from one of the windows that offer a wonderful overlook and admiring the stunning sunset before the day ends. Overnight at a local hotel or in a guest house.   

Second-Day: Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Gorges

Still discovering the beautiful Kasbahs in the region of Ouarzazate, we will head to the most famous Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage ‘Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah’. After an interesting morning in Taleaoute (a different place and different culture for you), you will have a Moroccan traditional breakfast and drive to Ait Ben Haddou. We will let ourselves dive into the beauty of the Kasbah and enjoy its old architecture which is looking like a Klay Castle, also, we will visit locals who are known for their hospitality. We will have lunch at one of the local restaurants before we continue driving to Dades Gorges.   

Third-Day: Dades Gorges – Todgha Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, a departure from Dades Valley toward the Todra Gorges where many rock climbers come to enjoy their preferred sport. Later we continue our journey, following the ancient Bedouin trading routes parallel with the Middle Atlas, passing a series of fortified villages with outstanding pre-Saharian architecture. The route to Erfoud is one of the most pleasant of all the Southern routes. The town is in a dry red built of desert and was built by the French as a central administration town. It is known for its rich black fossils and marble.

The stone is sculpted to bring the fossils into relief on everything from ashtrays to washbasins and more. We head down to the spectacular Merzouga desert where we will have a desert tour full of adventure and fun. We will spend the night at one of the hotels in the village.

Fourth-Day: Day tour in Merzouga desert

A full day in the Sahara Desert is dedicated to exploring the Desert area. After your first breakfast in the desert, you’ll move to the neighboring Berber village of the Sahara, called Khamlia, to listen to and watch the Gnaowa music performed by local bands. Continue through to see the nomads of the desert under their tents. Then we will drive back to the hotel to prepare you for the camel trekking activity. Riding camels for about 1h30min until we reach the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will hike a high dune to enjoy the breathtaking sunset in one of the best moments in the desert. In the desert, you can experience different desert activities such as the Sand bath, Sandboarding, or Hiking dunes. Later, we will camp in a tent at the center of the desert sitting around a small fire enjoying the Berber Gnawa music, drinking Sahara Tea, and deep into the beauty of the starry sky. Some of the locals will share with us some stories about the desert of Merzouga. You can sleep either inside the Berber tent, luxury bivouac, or under the charming sky.   

Fifth-Day: Merzouga to Marrakech via Ouarzazate road

After attending the panoramic sunrise, we will head back riding camels to the village of Merzouga where we will have our breakfast and take our luggage to drive to Marrakech. The drive will take the road of Thousand Kasbahs so we will have another chance to pass via Ouarzazate. We continue to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’tichka Pass. Stop for lunch up the center of the Atlas Mountains. We will finish our 5 days from Ouarzazate to Marrakech by dropping you off at your riad or the airport in Marrakech.
