Itinerary of the 5 days from Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour

DAY 1 : Marrakech – Tizi n’tichka – Ouarzazate

Our 5 days from Marrakech to Merzouga start after breakfast then we’ll leave for Ouarzazate via the Tizi Ntichka Pass. So today you will enjoy the beautiful scenery over the High Atlas mountains and appreciate the remarkable Berber villages. Before you get to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. It was built by the last Berber chieftain El Glaoui Et-Hami in the late 19th century; furthermore, it is now a UNESCO matrimonial historical site, which today still houses many Glaoui family members. Then lunch is by the Kasbah before we continue to Ouarzazate, “ the Hollywood of Africa”.

Here you have the option of visiting the studios to see props used in some movies you might have seen, such as “Gladiator”, “Jewel of the Nile” “the last temptation of Christ” and “The Sahara”. Finally on this Marrakech Best Tours, overnight will be in our fancy riad with dinner and breakfast.

DAY 2: Ouarzazate – Skoura – Boutghrar – Dades Valley

After breakfast in the riad, we’ll leave to explore the fascinating Dades and Rose Valleys. Then our first stop will be at Skoura. In fact, there you will walk within the Birds Valley and visit the beautiful and well-preserved Kasbah of Ameridil. Then we’ll continue to the village of Kalaa M’gouna, famous for its rose fields and rose products. There is a rose festival that is held here every May each year when the roses are harvested. Since this is the road of the thousands of Kasbahs you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take some beautiful pictures.

Then our journey of Marrakech Best Tours continues to the boutaghrar area where we can meet Berber families still living in caves with their goats and sheep. After lunch with the Berber family, we continue to the Dades Gorge where you will enjoy seeing the amazing Rock formation called “the monkey Toes” and the still-standing Kasbah of Ait Yul. Overnight in a traditional Berber guest house with dinner and breakfast.

DAY 3: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

Today After breakfast, we will drive towards Tinrghir and the Todra valley enjoying the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley. Once at the Todra Gorge, you can walk under the 300 m high red cliff, where many rock climbers spend their time. Then after lunch on the way, we will arrive at the village of Merzouga – where your camel will be waiting for you. In the first place, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and a desert scarf before you ride your camel, guided by an experienced Camel Guide. Then you will explore the mysterious sand sea of the Erg-Chebbi. Finally, here you will spend your first night under the stars and enjoy Marrakech’s Best Tours, or if you prefer in a traditional Berber nomad tent.

DAY 4: Merzouga – Draa Valley

We wake up before dawn to watch the sunrise. Return to Dromedary to the Hostel, Shower, and breakfast, Departure to Rissani, Visit its Market which is the most important of the south, where all the nomads of the desert go to make their purchases then we leave for Erfoud where we will visit the factory of fossilized marble and continue Towards the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. We will reach one of the strong points of the South: Todra Gorges. The channel of the Todra River has formed a gorge of vertical walls of enormous proportions and of great beauty; Is the climbers’ paradise and a unique place.

Lunch on-site and a half-hour walk to see the Gorges with tranquility. In the afternoon we continue towards the Valley of the Dades passing through Boumalne. Dinner and night in the Gorges of the Dades.

DAY 5: Draa Valley – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will start our trip with a visit to cinema studios found in Ouarzazate which is considered as Hollywood of Africa. Subsequently, we will visit the all-inclusive Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou Kasbah as it has been named by Unesco in 1987. Ait Benhaddou is a World Heritage site that has been utilized as a setting for more than 20 movies incorporating “Gladiator” “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. Revel in a stroll to investigate the universal Moroccan style of construction modeling in which the Kasbahs are constructed. We proceed with our approach to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’tichka pass. Stop for lunch up the center of the Atlas Mountains.
